Conceived in an effort to blend field recordings, music production techniques, and audio storytelling, Displacement Dissonance is influenced by beat making, dub music, DJ sets, and experimental sound sampling. Crescendo's rearrangement of sonic landscapes reflects both the influence of location in music making and the potential for recontexualization that is often present in everyday sounds.

Crescendo's "beat tape" is comprised of sound artifacts from public transportation, walks in Hyde Park, and interviews with local artists possess a personal connection to the area. This audio loop, pieced together rhythmically, takes particular cues from Chicago styled hip-hop and house music.
